Looking to switch jobs? Consider these tips first

Changing a job is good for your career – if you do it for your own sake.

Don’t be in a hurry, first learn as much as possible before jumping into the unknown.

“Of course, you’ll get higher pay when you change jobs, but that should not be the main reason for your change. Instead, get more responsibility and maybe a new title,” says Nils Källmark.

The first question to ask is why you should change jobs. There’s really no reason to change something like that, but it’s important to get something new and new.

It’s the word development that seems to be the key to whether it’s time to look over the market or not. As long as you develop in your role or with the company as such, there is no need to change employers. When you no longer feel you learn something more in your area or something new, it’s time to search for a new job. The absolute best reason to change is just to learn new things – it’s good to even state this in your resume.

However, there can, of course, be other reasons. It may be that you want to switch into a different industry, have a new boss that you do not work with or that a bunch of colleagues ends at the same time. Remember, it is not always easy to be new to a company. Rather, it’s a bit like starting from zero. There are new colleagues and other routines, and in addition, it is often “last in, first out” that applies.

How often can you change jobs without looking strange on your resume?
It’s not good to change jobs too often, then you’ll be a jumper. Changing every other or every three years I think is too often. But sure, there is an explanation of why there are no strangers. If, on the other hand, you have stayed four to five years in the same workplace, few ask the question why you changed.

Can you last for a long time?
If you change responsibility or if the company develops a lot, it’s no wonder to stay for many years in one and the same workplace. If, on the other hand, you do the same thing year in and year, it is different. A person who had the same tasks for 15 years is hard to recruit. “In order for the next career step to be done in the right direction, it is assumed that you will always learn something new and take on new responsibilities. Also, be sure to work in a good company with a good market reputation. It would rather be a name than an unknown company. In addition, many big companies also have better training opportunities, “says Nils Källmark. The most important thing is that you change jobs for your own sake, not for someone else’s.

Be sure to get your new employment contract before signing up.
Motivate. It’s about the relationship with the boss. “I can not cope with my work”, “I feel you’re not trusting me” or something along those lines. Speak clear language. It is important to leave with a good relationship. Keep the time required and make sure you are separated as friends. In case you leave a workplace because of internal conflicts – be honest. If you find something, it will come forward.

How to Calculate What Pay You Should Claim
Pay is always a negotiation case, but it is also important to put something right when they ask for claims. Both to lay too high and to lay too low can be embarrassing. First, check what salary levels there are within the company and the professional role you are looking for. In order to provide a guideline, between 15 and 20 percent premiums are reasonable. If you change your job to becoming a major workgroup, it’s usually higher than that.
